According to the 2017-2018 National Pet Owners Survey, 68% of U.S. households, or about 85 million families, own a pet. With so many furry babies out there, what does it mean to be a pet parent? We asked the Petcube community.

Raising a fur baby takes on many different forms. There are basic needs a pet parent has to fulfill, such as feeding, grooming, and taking their fur kid to the vet. But there's more to pet parenthood than that.

Petcube's Ultimate Pet Parent Survey revealed that an important part of being a pet parent is sharing special moments together. As Mother's Day is approaching, 54% of pet parents will celebrate it with their fur babies, either staying in for a special meal (56%) or taking a day trip somewhere (30%).

When choosing a gift for that pet mom of yours, consider getting something related to her fur baby. According to the survey, the most popular "ideal" present for a pet mom would be a pet tech gadget or a pet-inspired jewelry.

When you have fur kids, it is important to spend quality time together:

  • 96% of pet parents regularly snuggle with their pets at home
  • 74% of pet parents watch TV together with their fur kids
  • 57% of pet moms and dads enjoy outdoor activities with their pets
